Red Flag Warning and Excessive Heat Warning Issued for Pacific County

South Bend, Washington – The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of Pacific County which is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 14 – 11:00 p.m. Monday, August 14. A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior. A Fire Weather Watch is issued when weather conditions could exist in the next 12-72 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents. The National Weather Service Portland Office has also issued an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from 5:00 a.m. Monday 14-11:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 15. Temperatures away from the immediate coastal areas of Pacific County are forecast to be in the mid 90’s. As of 4:00 a.m. There is a 17% chance the Lebam/Frances area could exceed 100 degrees, that chance drops to 6% for Raymond and 3% for South Bend. The Long Beach Peninsula is expecting high temperatures between 78 and 82 degrees. Cooling Shelters will be available at the Raymond City Hall and the South Bend City Hall from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
