Hello Pacific County! Tsunami Advisories are not our “normal” state. This situation causes stress and fear for people, especially during a time when so many tourists are in our community. The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency is working to gather and disseminate information and to help keep people calm during this stressful time.
Here is what we know at this time: the Peak Wave Forecast is for a wave of 1 foot or less. We are telling everyone to stay off the beach itself. We are not ordering any evacuations at this time. We will continue to staff our EOC for as long as needed to ensure that everyone in our county remains safe.
If the situation deteriorates, we will use every tool in our tool box to alert the public with as much lead time as possible. We will use reverse 911, NOAA Alert Radios, Wireless Emergency Alerts, EAS Messaging and our AHAB Siren Network, along with any other tool we may need to ensure the public is well informed. Based on the number of DART Buoy observations, we are very confident that we will not see a Tsunami Warning here.

¡Hola Condado de Pacific! Las alertas de tsunami no son habituales en nuestra comunidad. Esta situación genera estrés y temor, especialmente en momentos en que hay tantos turistas en nuestra comunidad. La Agencia de Manejo de Emergencias del Condado de Pacific está trabajando para recopilar y difundir información y ayudar a mantener la calma durante estos momentos tan estresantes.
Lo que sabemos por el momento es que el pronóstico de olas máximas es de 12 pulgadas o menos. Les pedimos a todos que se mantengan alejados de la playa. No estamos ordenando evacuaciones por el momento. Continuaremos con nuestro Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia (COE) el tiempo que sea necesario para garantizar la seguridad de todos en nuestro condado.
Si la situación se deteriora, utilizaremos todas las herramientas a nuestro alcance para alertar al público con la mayor antelación posible. Utilizaremos el 911 inverso, las radios de alerta de la NOAA, las alertas de emergencia inalámbricas, la mensajería EAS y nuestra red de sirenas AHAB, junto con cualquier otra herramienta que necesitemos para asegurar que el público esté bien informado.
