A TSUNAMI ADVISORY is issued when a tsunami with potential to generate strong currents/waves dangerous to those in or near the water is expected. The threat may continue for many hours but significant flooding on land is not expected.
A tsunami advisory means DANGEROUS waves are on the way. STRONG and unusual currents are expected along the coast and in bays, marinas, and harbors. MOVE INLAND TO HIGH GROUND & AWAY FROM THE SHORE.
Remember, the first wave of a tsunami may not be the largest or the most destructive. Stay away from the shore for the duration of the tsunami.
DO NOT head to the beach or marina to watch the tsunami waves come in. You not only put yourself in danger when you do this, you also put any emergency responders in danger who may need to come to your rescue.

Se emite un AVISO DE TSUNAMI cuando se espera un tsunami con potencial de generar corrientes y olas fuertes peligrosas para quienes estén en o cerca del agua. La amenaza puede durar varias horas, pero no se espera una inundación significativa en tierra.
Un aviso de tsunami significa que olas PELIGROSAS se aproximan. Se esperan corrientes FUERTES e inusuales a lo largo de la costa, así como en bahías, marinas y puertos. MUÉVASE TIERRA ADENTRO, A ZONAS ALTAS Y LEJOS DE LA COSTA.
Recuerde: la primera ola de un tsunami puede no ser la más grande ni la más destructiva. Manténgase alejado de la costa durante toda la duración del tsunami.
NO vaya a la playa ni a la marina para observar las olas del tsunami. Al hacerlo, pone en peligro su vida y también la de los socorristas que podrían tener que acudir a rescatarle.
